| Faculty & Staff Relations |
Faculty & Staff Relations provides guidance, counseling and assistance to employees and managers in administering U.Va. policies and procedures. Our goal is to promote a cohesive, effective and high performing workplace. We offer assistance in a variety of areas including Personnel Issues, Disciplinary Process, Supervisory Training, Counseling Services, Drug and Alcohol Testing, Performance Management and Evaluations, Employee Grievances, Appeals, Mediation, Unemployment Compensation, Exit Interviews, Layoffs, Workforce reductions, and Employee Standards of Conduct.
Performance Management - Lead@UVA Performance Management is a collaborative, ongoing process between a supervisor and an employee to plan for, develop, and evaluate the employee’s work.
Unemployment Compensation: This program ensures that employees receive full benefits under the entitlements of the Virginia Unemployment Compensation Act and, at the same time, ensures that the University's liability is limited to legitimate claims. Employee Relations processes unemployment claims, answers questions and attends Unemployment Compensation hearings.
U.Va. Employee Travel Opportunities: The travel program is open to current and retired faculty and staff and their guests. Volunteers and others who work on the grounds are also eligible to participate.
Service Awards: The University honors each University Staff, Classified Staff, and Medical Center non-faculty long-service employee at an annual service awards ceremony or banquet and presents the employee with a service award certificate, pin, and an appropriate gift for 25 or more years of service. . Employees who have completed ten years of non-faculty service and each succeeding five years of service will be honored.
Standards of Conduct: The University of Virginia has a set of rules governing the professional and personal conduct and acceptable standards for work performance of employees. Termed Standards of Conduct, these rules are designed and used to correct behavior. These Standards were developed to protect the well-being and rights of all employees.
Employee Suggestion Program: It is the Commonwealth's objective to promote agencies' employee suggestion programs (ESP) whereby employees can be recognized and rewarded for adopted ideas that improve their agencies' and state government's operations.
