Employment of Students
Full-time UVa Students
Full-time students are those enrolled in a degree-granting program, who are carrying twelve or more undergraduate hours or nine or more graduate hours. Full-time UVa students are eligible for student employment through University Recruitment & Staffing will be paid in accordance with the University Student Pay Plan. Full-time students who are licensed health care professionals may be paid according to the UVa Health Care Provider Compensation Plan. Full-time students are limited up to twenty hours/week per semester.
Part-time UVa Students and Non-UVa
High school students, non-UVa students, and part-time UVa students must apply for staff employment with University Recruitment & Staffing and will be paid in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia Compensation Plan, or with the Health Care Provider Compensation Plan (HCP positions).
Financial Aid/Work Study Students
University of Virginia students who qualify for work study programs need to apply for employment with the Office of Financial Aid to Students.
VP and Provost Student Appointments
This policy does not apply to student appointments as assistants, graduate assistants, and graduate instructors. These appointments are administered by the Office of the Vice President and Provost.
