| News from UHR... |
January 14 , 2008
HR News from Susan Carkeek:
Happy New Year from University Human Resources!
Happy New Year from University Human Resources! I hope that you had an enjoyable holiday season with friends and family.
UHR has some exciting projects underway for 2008, and I look forward to sharing news of these with you throughout the year. I will continue to send emails to you as needed, but I also want to encourage you to visit www.hrs.virginia.edu/news regularly to see newly posted items that might be of interest. HR news will also be available at UVA Today at www.virginia.edu/uvatoday.
In case your New Year's resolution was to lose weight in 2008, you'll be pleased to hear that U.Va. employees, spouses, and adult dependents 18 years of age and over may participate in Weight Watchers and receive the special pricing announced by Virginia's Department of Human Resources Management (DHRM). Since U.Va. has its own health care plan, we are not eligible for the 50 percent reimbursement under the state's health benefits, but we do have other special pricing options available to us.
Southern Health offers Weight Watchers discounts to their members, including U.Va. Health Plan members; to find out more, visit http://www.southernhealth.com, click on Members and then look for Coventry WellBeing under Health Information. The DHRM program is more fully explained at http://www.dhrm.virginia.gov/weightwatchers.html. For both the Southern Health benefit and the DHRM benefit there are waived registration fees and special local rates. Since there are a variety of program types and pricing options, please carefully review the materials to determine which program would be a better benefit for you.
On a separate note to those of you in the academic division, I especially want to encourage you to keep tabs on our restructuring efforts. More than 200 of your colleagues are now beginning work on designing a new HR system for the academic division. You can find out more at www.hrs.virginia.edu/restructuring, a site that will continue to develop as the project moves forward.
I wish you good health in 2008 and look forward to the new year with you!
Sincerely,
Susan A. Carkeek
