HR News from Susan Carkeek: Open Enrollment

November at the University is not just falling leaves and football...it’s also Open Enrollment! Open Enrollment runs from Nov. 5 until Nov. 26, the Monday after the Thanksgiving holiday. This year we have the unusual good fortune to present increased benefits and some lower premiums on our health care plans, as well as some great new vendors and products, so I encourage you to take a close look at what we have to offer. Since benefits language can be confusing, we’ve added a new feature this year to help you out: a glossary of commonly used benefits terms. Go to www.hrs.virginia.edu/benefits/glossary.html to find definitions for deductible, co-pay, allowable expense, and more. If you’ve ever wondered what some of those terms mean, now’s a good time to find out.

After you check out the glossary, I invite you to join us at the Employee Resource Fair on Thursday, Nov. 15 in the Newcomb Hall South Meeting Room from 9 am to 2 pm. We’ll be holding information sessions with benefits counselors at 10 am, 11 am, 12 noon and 1 pm, as well as hosting many benefits vendors and other organizations from around Grounds.
