Yearly influenza immunizations are important. Annual influenza epidemics (“the flu”) can cause sufficient illness among unprotected employees to disrupt essential services of the University, as well as causing emotional distress as you care for your families and friends who become ill. The flu can be very dangerous for the very young and the elderly.

Clearly the most effective method for protecting employees from influenza infections and their consequences is yearly immunization. The influenza vaccine must be given on an annual basis because the vaccine formula is altered each year to reflect recently circulating strains.

Please consider taking the vaccine this year. It is one of the easiest and best ways to protect yourselves and your friends, families, and co-workers from seasonal illness.
