HR News from Coach Carkeek

Huddle
Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of hosting three town hall meetings on Grounds to talk about the results from the HR restructuring survey. Leonard Sandridge, Colette Sheehy and I were thrilled to see a large turnout at all three meetings; we got great questions during and after the sessions that generated a lot of discussion. Thanks to all who came out!

Post Game Review
For those who weren’t able to attend, you can see the entire survey, as well as more than 6,000 comments from your fellow employees, at www.hrs.virginia.edu/restructuring. There you’ll also find my presentation slides, a link to the UVA Today story, and a podcast of the first meeting. Soon we’ll post transcripts of all three meetings; please feel free to write in using the feedback page on that site or by emailing HRrestructuring@virginia.edu.

Kick Off
In benefits news, a story will appear in the next issue of Inside UVA detailing the changes in our benefits for the coming year. I am pleased to announce a reduction in premiums for the low premium health plan, minimal increases in the high premium plan (just one dollar for employee-only coverage), enhanced benefits in both plans, and improvements to the faculty life insurance offerings. Look for announcements around Grounds about open enrollment from Nov. 5 to Nov. 26 and the employee resource fair on Nov. 15.

Extra Point

Finally, I urge you to get a free flu shot, available to benefit-eligible employees from Oct. 22 until Nov. 9 at various places around Grounds. Please visit www.hrs.virginia.edu/news for a complete list of the times and locations. Protect yourself this flu season!
