From the Desk of Susan Carkeek

Welcome to my inaugural column from University Human Resources! I am so pleased to start the academic year with a regular spot in Inside UVA, where I plan to share timely and relevant news from UHR with you. Improving communication is a top priority for me, and this column is one way to begin. I have also started posting memos to a new Web site, www.hrs.virginia.edu/news, where you can find out more about hot topics and news from UHR. I hope that all of you have enjoyed the summer.

For our part, UHR has been very busy over the last few months, working on projects from Jobs@UVa, to a new employee orientation, to some wonderful training opportunities. In fact, there have been so many changes that I decided to create a top 10 “hit list,” David Lettermanstyle (see below). These enhancements are due to the efforts of a tremendous team of professionals, in UHR and across Grounds. The changes we are making in UHR are being made with you in mind, and I welcome your feedback via e-mail at scarkeek@ virginia.edu or by calling 924-4450.
