This
announcement provides updated information relating
to the University's observance of official recognized holidays
for the 2004 period beginning November 25, 2004 through December
31, 2004.
Recently the Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) in
Richmond announced that the Governor has granted additional
holiday time for this upcoming Thanksgiving (4 hours) and
Christmas (4 hours) holiday season. As we communicated earlier
this year (April 15, 2004) we will use these additional eight
(8) hours granted and designate Wednesday December 29, 2004 as
an official Academic Division holiday.
We
realize that any one observed holiday may be less than ideal for
some activities. In those instances, services should be
maintained and compensatory leave awarded to those required to
work. Employees who must work on a holiday should be given
adequate advance notice for personal planning purposes.
Below is the revised Academic Division Holiday
Schedule.
