On August 6th you received a memorandum from
Leonard Sandridge, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating
Officer concerning the University's preparation for the Penn
State Football Game to be played in Scott Stadium at 7:30
p.m. on September 13. Mr. Sandridge stated that the purpose
of advance preparations was to minimize any disruption to
the routine operations of the University.
The University will maintain all normal operations
during that day but departments are authorized to use their
discretion in the numbers of employees that will be required
to maintain the appropriate services. Certain operations are
better suited to modified scheduling than others and in cases
in which staffing and schedules cannot be modified then employees
will be expected to report to work as usual regardless of
their parking situations. A grace period for late arrival
or early departure will not be granted.
For those operations that can support it,
managers are encouraged to use modified schedules to help
alleviate traffic congestion in the University area on Thursday,
September 13.
Typical modifications to employee schedules
that the school or department may authorize include:
- Use of annual or compensatory time for the full or partial
shift,
- Use of four 10 -hour work days the week of September 10
through September 14, and
- Use of any other schedule the week of September 10 through
September 14, which allows the employee to attain forty
hours and have a full or partial shift modification for
September 13. For example, a modified schedule may include
allowing employees to come to work at 7 a.m. and leave at
4 p.m. on September 13.
Normal compensation policies and procedures remain in effect.
