Processing Priority and Time Guidelines for Position Action Requests
Processing Priority

University Human Resource (UHR) Compensation Management has determined the following order of priority for review of all Position Action Forms (PAF's):
  1. Establish New Positions
    1. Health Care and Research-funded
    2. Non-health care and non-research-funded
  2. Any type of request involving vacant positions
    1. Health Care and Research-funded
    2. Non-health care and non-research-funded
  3. Position Attribute Changes
  4. Conversions of Staff to Administrative or Professional General Faculty
  5. Redefinitions
  6. Role Change of Positions With An Incumbent
Time Guidelines

The time standards for completing the above priorities are:
  • Priority 1A and 2A: Thirty (30) days from date of receipt by UHR.
  • Priority 1B, 2B, and 3: Forty-five (45) days from date of receipt by UHR.
  • Priority 4, 5, and 6: Ninety (90) days from date of receipt by UHR.
UHR Compensation Management endeavors to expedite completion of all requests in as short a time as possible. Management can assist UHR Compensation Management by ensuring that all required documentation is both accurate and complete.
These guidelines apply to routine position actions. Non-routine position actions include those involved in a class review, those which are part of a department reorganization affecting more than one position, or those which have no existing comparators at the University.

Note: For upward and lateral Role Change requests involving classified employees and university staff employees, if a change in salary for the employee is an immediate issue, management may pursue other pay practices such as temporary pay and/or In-Band-Adjustments (IBA's) to address compensation prior to the outcome of the classification review.
