Policy:
This document provides additional information related to the UVA Employee Tuition Waiver Educational Benefits Policy. It provides specific information related only to the terms of use and procedures for submitting the Tuition Waiver by Employee/Students matriculated in the McIntire School of Commerce Graduate Master's in Information Technology (MIT) Program. All other terms of the Tuition Waiver Policy apply to Employees using Tuition Waiver for the MIT Program.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The UHR Faculty and Staff Career Services Division is responsible for all policies related to this program, is ultimately responsible for program compliance, is the source for tuition waiver-related information and is the final decision-making authority for the appeals process associated with tuition waiver policy.
The McIntire Graduate MIT Program Registrar administers the tuition waiver process and ensures that all tuition waivers are appropriately applied and correctly submitted and processed. Tuition Waiver forms are submitted to this office.
Employees initiate the tuition waiver process. Supervisors approve tuition waiver requests. Together, Employees and Supervisors agree on appropriate work schedules to accommodate class attendance. If they agree that attendance for a job-related course for full-time employees will take place during working hours, the Department Head must approve this decision.
Forms:
"Employee Request for UVA Tuition Waiver" is used to apply for a Tuition Waiver.
General Information:
You must apply and be admitted to the program. Once admitted, the Program accepts one 3-credit tuition waiver course during the fall and spring semesters, for a total of 2 tuition waiver courses.
Tuition waiver is calculated at the in-state rate. The Register announces the designated tuition waiver course prior to course registration each semester. The employee/student registers for the course according to normal McIntire Graduate registration procedures and submits the completed tuition waiver form to the McIntire Graduate Registrar at the time of registration. NOTE: the add/drop dates for the McIntire School of Commerce should be used to complete the tuition waiver form.
