Tuition Waiver Program - Academic and Medical Center

This program permits eligible employees to take one job or non-job-related course and lab/discussion group (if applicable) at the University of Virginia each semester (fall, spring, summer) and have the tuition and regular fees waived if the course is satisfactorily completed.

How To Get Started:
  • Read the policy document to understand your eligibility, role, responsibilities and procedures.
  • Read the Tuition Waiver Instructions document for how to use tuition waiver for the program or class that interests you.
  • Check with Faculty and Staff Career Services if you still have questions.
  • Complete your request for Tuition Waiver.
  • Register for the class you are interested in and use the Tuition Waiver to pay for it!

The Tuition Waiver program is an agreement with terms and conditions between you and the University. There is a potential for owing money if the terms are not me, so be clear on your role and responsibilities. Tuition Reimbursement/Assistance (Academic departments only)

Attention Medical Center Employees: If you are interested in Tuition Reimbursement, see Medical Center HR Policy #301 listed on KnowledgeLink, or contact Health System Human Resources, Employee Relations Services at 982-4447.

This program permits eligible employees to take job-related courses. You pay for the course, and are reimbursed by your Department for the tuition. When using reimbursement, you receive the payment at the end of the course. When using assistance, you receive payment after you show proof that you paid for the course.
